What is the difference between Eastern and Western medicine?
Eastern medicine, also known as traditional Chinese medicine, is based on the concept of Qi (pronounced "chee"), or vital energy, that flows through the body along specific pathways called meridians. Practitioners of Eastern medicine use methods such as acupuncture, herbal remedies, and massage to restore balance to the body and promote healing. Western medicine, on the other hand, is based on scientific research and the use of pharmaceutical drugs, surgery, and other interventions to treat diseases and conditions. While Eastern medicine focuses on treating the root cause of illness and placing emphasis on prevention, Western medicine tends to focus more on symptom relief and cure.
