How does generative AI work?

Generative AI, a branch of artificial intelligence, works by utilizing deep neural networks to generate new and original content. It employs a two-step process involving training and generation. During the training phase, a generative AI model is fed with a vast dataset of examples to learn from. The model uses various techniques such as deep learning, self-attention, and recurrent neural networks to understand patterns, structures, and semantics in the input data. Once trained, the model becomes capable of generating novel outputs by making predictions based on the learned knowledge. This can include generating text, images, music, or even video by sampling from the learned distribution of the training data. Generative AI is continuously evolving, with advancements like GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks) allowing models to increasingly produce realistic and high-quality content. However, the technology also presents ethical challenges, particularly surrounding the potential misuse of generated content.
