The origin of the Earth is believed to have occurred approximately 4.6 billion years ago through a process known as accretion. This process involved the gradual accumulation of dust, gas, and other materials within a disc-like structure known as the protoplanetary disk. Over time, these materials began to clump together due to gravity, forming larger bodies called planetesimals. Eventually, one of these planetesimals, which would later become the Earth, grew in size through additional collisions and merging with other planetesimals. As it grew, the Earth's gravitational force attracted more and more materials, such as rocks and metals, until it achieved a size and composition similar to what it is today. This process of accretion ultimately resulted in the formation of the Earth and its place within our solar system.
