What is WOOP?

WOOP, which stands for Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, and Plan, is a framework and mental strategy developed by psychologist Gabriele Oettingen based on extensive research on goal-setting and motivation. WOOP is designed to help individuals clearly define their goals and identify potential obstacles, allowing for realistic planning and increased chances of goal attainment. The WOOP process involves vividly envisioning a desirable future outcome (the Wish), identifying potential internal or external barriers (the Obstacle), and formulating an effective plan to overcome those obstacles (the Plan). By incorporating WOOP into their lives, individuals can enhance their goal setting and decision-making skills, empowering them to turn their aspirations into concrete achievements.
