What is Ravensbrück?

Ravensbrück was a concentration camp during World War II, located in northern Germany. Initially established as a camp for women, it later expanded to hold men and children as well. It was primarily used for the imprisonment and extermination of political prisoners, ethnic minorities, resistance fighters, and women deemed socially and morally unacceptable by the Nazi regime. The conditions at Ravensbrück were harsh and inhumane, with prisoners enduring forced labor, medical experiments, starvation, and torture. It is estimated that tens of thousands of people died there, making Ravensbrück one of the deadliest camps operated by the Nazis.
