What is the process of becoming an Advocate on Record?

To become an Advocate on Record in India, a lawyer must first have a minimum of 7 years of experience practicing law in a high court. The lawyer must then apply to the Supreme Court Registrar, who will conduct an examination to assess the lawyer's understanding of the Supreme Court Rules and procedures. The lawyer must pass this examination to be enrolled as an Advocate on Record with the Supreme Court. Once enrolled, the Advocate on Record has the exclusive right to file and argue cases before the Supreme Court.
