What is Weinberg-Salam Model?

The Weinberg-Salam Model or the Electroweak theory is a theoretical framework that unifies two fundamental forces of nature - the electromagnetic force and the weak force. The model was proposed independently by Sheldon Glashow, Abdus Salam, and Steven Weinberg in the 1970s. It suggests that the weak force is transmitted by three particles, commonly known as W+, W-, and Z0 bosons, while the electromagnetic force is mediated by photons. The model has strong experimental support and played an essential role in the discovery of the Higgs Boson, which is responsible for particle masses.
