How do you compost?

Composting is the best way to turn organic waste into nutrient-rich soil that can improve the health of your plants and garden. To start composting, you can either buy a compost bin or build one yourself using scrap wood. Once you have the bin, you’ll need to start collecting organic waste such as fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, and yard waste. Fill the bin with layers of “brown” and “green” materials, like leaves and grass clippings, and kitchen waste, respectively. Turn the compost with a pitchfork or compost aerator every few weeks. The compost will decompose over time, turning into rich, earthy soil that you can mix into your garden beds to improve the health of the soil and the plants you grow.
