Qualitative research methods offer several advantages, including a detailed and in-depth understanding of the research subject, the ability to explore complex social phenomena, and the flexibility to adapt research methods and questions as new insights and perspectives emerge during the research process. Qualitative data also allows examination of the context and depth of particular phenomena, with implications for understanding individuals’ lifeworlds, experiences, and behaviour. Qualitative research provides a rich set of data, and can be adapted to contribute to either exploratory or confirmatory research. Qualitative methods allow an understanding of a subject that is not possible with quantitative methods, and can be used to generate hypotheses, develop theories, and explore the complexity of the social world.
