What is psychosis?

Psychosis refers to a mental health condition in which an individual experiences a loss of contact with reality. People with psychosis exhibit symptoms such as delusions (false beliefs), hallucinations (hearing or seeing things that are not there), disorganized thoughts and speech, inappropriate emotions, and a lack of motivation or interest in socializing. Psychosis can be caused by various factors, including genetics, substance abuse, severe stress or trauma, or certain medical conditions. It is generally treatable with medication, therapy, and support from loved ones. Early recognition and intervention are crucial for effective management of psychosis.
