Types of qualitative research methods

Qualitative research methods are used to gather data about people's experiences, perspectives, beliefs and behaviors through non-numerical data analysis, and are valuable in understanding social phenomena in its natural context. There are different types of qualitative research methods such as interviews, focus groups, case studies, ethnography, and content analysis which are used depending on the research question and research setting. Interviews are used for gathering data by conducting one-to-one conversations with participants while focus groups involves small group interaction with the researcher, case studies are used for exploring in-depth information about a particular case or phenomena, ethnography aims to understand the culture or behavior of a particular group, and content analysis involves examining textual, visual and audio data in order to identify recurring themes or patterns.
