What are the challenges in supply chain management?
Supply chain management involves diverse activities that require cooperation between different parties in different locations. The challenges of supply chain management arise from the complexity and uncertainty in the process. Coordination among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers in different areas poses communication challenges, as well as potentially problematic cultural and regulatory differences. The need to optimize for performance, costs, and risks becomes much more complex with a larger supply chain, especially when dealing with just-in-time delivery systems. Furthermore, disruptions such as natural disasters, transportation infrastructure issues, or supply interruptions making it difficult to plan for and manage the supply chain. The integration of technology and other digital tools can mitigate these challenges by improving communication and collaboration between stakeholders.
