What is a black hole?

A black hole is an astronomical object with an extremely strong gravitational field that nothing, not even light, can escape from its grasp. It is created from the remnants of massive stars that have collapsed inward, compressing matter into a singular point known as the singularity. Black holes only become visible when matter falls into them, and the strong gravitational pull causes the surrounding material to emit radiation that can be detected by astronomers. Black holes are still a mystery to scientists, and their properties and behavior continue to be explored to this day.
