What is the difference between leadership and management?

Leadership and management are two very distinct concepts. While management involves planning, organizing and monitoring, leadership is about inspiring and motivating people to achieve a common goal. Management is about maintaining order and ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently, whereas leadership is about inspiring people to see the vision and get them to buy-in. A good manager must be strategic and have a strong ability to organize and execute tasks, while a good leader must have the ability to inspire, influence, and empower individuals to move toward a common goal. However, the two concepts are closely related and often overlap in certain situations.
