What are the arguments for panpsychism?

Panpsychism is the philosophical concept that everything in the universe has some level of consciousness or mentality, even non-living objects. The main argument for panpsychism is that consciousness cannot arise out of nothing and must be present in some form in the universe. Additionally, the fact that humans and animals possess consciousness suggests that there is a continuity of consciousness throughout the universe. Panpsychists also argue that the assumption that consciousness emerged through evolution is flawed, as it cannot explain how non-conscious matter can give rise to consciousness. Panpsychism offers a way to address the hard problem of consciousness, which is the question of how subjective experience arises from the physical processes of the brain.
