What is fragile narcissism?

Fragile narcissism is a personality trait that describes individuals who are overly dependent on external sources for validation and who are hypersensitive to criticism. These individuals have a deep sense of entitlement and grandiosity, but are also easily threatened by feelings of rejection or failure. They require constant admiration and attention from others to maintain their fragile self-esteem, and will often react negatively when their expectations are not met. Those with fragile narcissism may have difficulty empathizing with others and tend to view them as instruments for their own satisfaction. Additionally, they may struggle to regulate their emotions and be prone to outbursts or impulsive behavior.
