What is fixism?

Fixism is the belief that species and biota have remained essentially unchanged throughout their existence on Earth. Supporters of fixism reject the idea of evolution and natural selection, and believe that the characteristics of each species were created as they are by a divine power. This worldview has been largely discredited by the scientific community, as overwhelming evidence supports the idea of evolution and adaptation of species over time. Despite this, some proponents of fixism continue to reject scientific evidence in favor of religious or philosophical beliefs.
