What are the different types of active electric filters?
Active electric filters are electronic circuits that use active components like operational amplifiers to filter or modify the frequency response of electrical signals. There are several types of active electric filters, including the low-pass filter, high-pass filter, band-pass filter, and band-reject (or notch) filter. A low-pass filter only allows low-frequency signals to pass through, blocking higher frequencies. In contrast, a high-pass filter allows high-frequency signals while attenuating lower frequencies. A band-pass filter selectively passes a specific range of frequencies, allowing signals within that range to pass while attenuating frequencies outside of the range. On the other hand, a band-reject filter attenuates a specific frequency range, effectively rejecting signals within that range and allowing frequencies outside of it. These different types of active electric filters find applications in various fields such as audio processing, telecommunications, and instrumentation.
