Self-healing concrete technology has emerged as an innovative solution to mitigate the shortcomings of traditional concrete. However, it is not free from limitations. The major drawback of self-healing concrete is its cost, which is relatively higher than conventional concrete. Additionally, the effectiveness of self-healing concrete relies on the severity and location of the crack network. Self-healing concrete can only heal hairline cracks, and larger and severe cracks require traditional repair methods. Furthermore, there is a need for further research to determine the long-term durability and effectiveness of self-healing concrete in different environmental conditions.
