How does EFS work?

EFS, which stands for Elastic File System, is a scalable cloud-based file storage service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS). EFS allows users to create and manage file systems that can be shared across multiple Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances and on-premises servers. It works by using network file system (NFS) protocol versions 4.0 and 4.1 to provide a simple and standard interface to access and manage data stored in the file system. EFS provides a highly available and durable storage solution by automatically replicating data across multiple availability zones within a region. It also scales automatically to petabytes of storage capacity, accommodating the changing storage needs of applications without the need for upfront provisioning or capacity planning. This makes EFS ideal for applications that require shared file storage and can benefit from high performance, low latency, and high throughput access to data across multiple instances.
