What is AFIP?

AFIP stands for Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. It is an organization owned by the US government to provide medical consultation, training, and research support to the Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and other federal agencies. AFIP is considered as the largest Department of Defense referral center for pathology consultation in the world. Its mission is to improve the medical support to the US military and Veterans' healthcare, and to advance the understanding of diseases through medical education, research, and collaboration with other medical institutions. AFIP has expertise in various areas, including forensic pathology, neuropathology, digital pathology, and molecular pathology.
