What is correlation?

Correlation refers to a statistical measure that quantifies and describes the relationship between two variables. It measures the strength and direction of the association between the two variables. The correlation coefficient ranges from -1 to +1, where a coefficient of -1 means a perfect negative correlation, 0 means no correlation, and +1 means a perfect positive correlation. Correlation should not be confused with causation, as a correlation between two variables does not necessarily mean that one variable causes the other. Nonetheless, correlation can reveal important patterns and associations between variables that can be useful for future analysis and decision-making.
