How does MMC work?

MMC, or MultiMediaCard, is a type of memory card used for storing data in portable electronic devices. It works on the principle of flash memory technology, which enables quick and reliable data storage and retrieval. MMCs consist of a small form factor chip embedded with nonvolatile memory cells, which can be electrically erased and reprogrammed. They usually use the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) or the Secure Digital (SD) bus interface to communicate with the host device. When data needs to be written, the host sends electrical signals to the MMC to store the information in the memory cells. Similarly, when data needs to be read, the host device sends commands to retrieve the desired information from the MMC. This process allows for easy and efficient transfer of data between devices, making MMCs a widely used storage solution in various portable electronic devices such as digital cameras, smartphones, and MP3 players.
