How does Sharepoint authentication work?

SharePoint authentication works by verifying the identity of users who attempt to access the content management system. Windows authentication verifies the user's credentials against Active Directory, while Forms-Based Authentication requires users to enter their username and password through a login form. Once successfully authenticated, SharePoint grants authorized access to the user to the resources they are permitted to access.
