Types of Chilean woods

Chile is home to an array of fascinating and distinctive wood varieties that are highly sought after by woodworkers and carpenters. Perhaps the most famous of these is Rauli, which is revered for its strength, durability, and rich, reddish-brown hue. Other popular Chilean woods include Lenga, a tough, resilient hardwood with a mottled pale yellow and greige hue, and Coigue, a lime-colored, fine-grained wood that is ideal for furniture-making and instrument-building due to its acoustic properties. Indigenous woods like the Mapuche and Rapa Nui are also highly prized for their unique coloration and unique characteristics. However, it's critical to verify whether each of these woods has been sustainably harvested as over-logging is quickly decimating some of these species.
