How does a clutch work?

A clutch in a vehicle is a mechanical device that engages and disengages power transmission between the engine and the transmission. The clutch works by connecting and disconnecting the engine from the wheels, allowing the driver to shift gears smoothly without damaging the transmission or stalling the engine. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the clutch disc is disengaged from the flywheel, interrupting the power flow to the transmission. When the pedal is released, the clutch disc re-engages with the flywheel, transferring power back to the transmission to propel the vehicle forward.
