What is Vulnerable NPD?

Vulnerable Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a subtype of NPD characterized by a fragile, delicate self-image, a lack of self-confidence, and hypersensitivity to rejection or criticism. Individuals with Vulnerable NPD may present with similar symptoms of grandiosity and self-importance as those with traditional NPD but may also exhibit symptoms of anxiety, social withdrawal, and feelings of shame or inferiority. They may be prone to seeking admiration and attention from others, but also experience deep-seated feelings of insecurity and self-doubt. Vulnerable NPD can be challenging to diagnose and treat, and therapy may involve a focus on building self-esteem and developing healthier coping mechanisms.
