What are the techniques used in brainwashing?

Brainwashing, also referred to as mind control or thought reform, involves manipulative techniques used to alter an individual's thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. Different methods are employed in brainwashing, aiming to undermine one's critical thinking and ability to make independent choices. Some commonly used techniques include isolation, where individuals are cut off from their usual support systems; social pressure and peer dependency, to create conformity and discourage dissent; control of information through censorship or misinformation; repetition and reinforcement of desired beliefs and ideologies; inducement of fear, guilt, or shame; and the use of tactics such as sleep deprivation or physical exertion to break down resistance. These techniques are used to enforce a new belief system or affiliation with a particular group, ultimately gaining control over an individual's thoughts and actions.
