What is FiHR?

FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) is a healthcare data exchange standard that was developed to enable the sharing of electronic health information in a more efficient, flexible and secure way. FHIR is intended to be an open, standard-based framework to exchange healthcare data electronically. It provides a simple yet powerful platform for exchanging health information between different systems and apps, allowing healthcare providers to access and share critical patient information in real-time. FHIR is intended to replace older, more complicated healthcare interoperability standards that have been in use for many years, like HL7.
